The official kick-off meeting for the GRoW follow-up project SPS-Blue Nile takes place virtually on 11 May 2023!

SPS-Blue Nile develops a meteorological-hydrological forecasting system for the Blue Nile. It uses variables such as precipitation, water inflow or sediment transport, to predict extreme events – i.e. heavy precipitation, floods, droughts and hot spells. Then, recommendations for action can be made to support decision-makers in the transboundary water management of the Blue Nile. The forecasting system is based on cloud-enabled modules or microservices.

Sudanese, Ethiopian and German representatives lead the so-called sandwich program. They belong to the fields of science, politics and water management. Together, the interdisciplinary team organises and implements workshops and training courses. They also participate in higher-level initiatives and networks and thus promote technical dialogue among themselves.
